** Asha'man **
These warriors, both of the One Power and of hand and sword, are marked by "close-fitting high-collared black coats" of "pitch-black wool". Having reached a certain level of ability, the Dedicated are distinguished by "... a small gleaming silver sword, ... long hilt and slanting quillons and slightly curved blade..." pinned upon the tall collar, and, for true Asha'man, an emblem of "... finely crafted gold and rich red enamel. A sinuous form exactly like the one on the Dragon banner..." on the opposite side of the collar of the black coat. <LoC: 42, 540, 543, The Black Tower> Those on the right were crafted by Museum Replicas and approved by Robert Jordan, though of course the Dragon was gold and red enamel, not silver. A more complete depiction of the Dragon is given elsewhere:
A sword at the hip completes the Asha'man's équipage <ACoS: 34, 529, Ta'veren>. Logain, perhaps the ultimate Asha'man, further distinguishes himself. He "wore his black coat with the Sword and the Dragon on the high collar, and a long-hilted sword on his hip, but he made an addition, a round enamelled pin on his shoulder showing three golden crowns in a field of blue." <KoD: 18, 390, News for the Dragon> |
