** Loial's axe **

Loial shows proficiency with staves and axes both, and in LoC finally selects "... an axe with a haft nearly as long as he was tall ..." <ACoS: 2, 75, The Butcher's Yard> for his own, private, and apparently permanent use. Loial's height is just under 10', making a total axe length of 9 to 9 1/2' likely.

The axe's head itself is large, and ornately engraved, "... shaped like that of a huge wood-axe, but engraved with leaves and scrolls and inlaid with gold. The inlay was a trifle scuffed from the axe's late use." <ACoS: 3, 94, Hill of the Golden Dawn; also LoC: 54, 668, The Sending> In contrast with Perrin's axe, or those of Trollocs, where spikes are very consistently mentioned, none is present here, as expected for a wood-axe.
